Dr. Dheryta Jaisinghani

Dr. Dheryta Jaisinghani completed her Diploma in Computer Engineering from Kasturba Polytechnic for Women, now known as DSEU Pitampura Campus. After Diploma she pursued her interest in academia and completed her Ph.D. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa, USA.

Dr. Dheryta shared that her diploma course was helpful in establishing a clear understanding of the fundamental concepts in her domain. A strong hold on the basics helped her throughout her career, especially now that she is teaching the same to her students. The scope and value of the course provided opportunities to learn. She says that diploma has its own benefits over B. Tech. and you still have the option to continue as a lateral entry engineering student. Diploma provided hands-on experience to build on the theoretical aspects of the course.

The University is offering revamped diploma courses focused at making students job ready. With more shared resources (faculty, infrastructure, etc.) with the University, there will be better placement and learning opportunities for the students. In her word of advice to students making a decision to opt for diploma studies, Dheryta said, “Students must  persevere, work hard  and  follow their dreams”.

There are many more such fascinating stories of those making a choice to study a focused subject of their choice right after their class X. It appears the sky is the limit for someone who chooses to pursue their interests in a dedicated manner.
