Dr. Sangita Passey

Dr. Sangita Passey has been associated with teaching mathematics for more than 3 decades. She is currently serving as the Director of DSEU Maharani Bagh Campus and Head of the Department for Sciences and Humanities. She ranked 3rd at the Bachelor’s level and 2nd at the Master’s level in the Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Passey further pursued M.Phil. in Mathematics post which she started teaching as a Lecturer at the Punjabi University.  In 1990, she joined DTTE as a lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, and having been awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship in 1994, she completed her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of York, UK. Additionally, Dr. Passey is also an award-winning player of table tennis and has been a member of the GNCTD Table Tennis team and participated in the AI Civil Services TT Tournament. During the second decade of her teaching career, she started a webpage to educate her students on using the internet as an academic resource. She engaged her students via videos, tests, questions, and support material for the subjects. Dr. Passey is also passionate about writing and believes that expression and sharing are two of the biggest virtues at the disposal of teachers. Dr. Passey started her blog ‘IdeaMasala’ in 2009, using the platform as a vibrant space to share her views through her writing. “I have never seen myself being restricted by the fact that I teach mathematics. I like taking up new challenges and learning things, be it administrative roles or organising and management roles, or creative roles.
