B.Sc. (Emergency Medical Technology)

B.Sc. in Emergency Medical Technology is designed by the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University in collaboration with Apollo Medskills. The program shall skill graduates to work as an emergency medical technician and to function at the basic pre-hospital level and treat various medical trauma conditions using appropriate equipment and materials. This is a 3-year course with a 12 month internship (embedded within the program) in a leading healthcare organisation. What does an Emergency Medical Technician do?
  • Respond to emergency calls
  • Follow evidence-based protocol while managing patients.
  • Patient triage based on the defined clinical criteria of the severity of illness
  • Manage patients with allergic reaction, poisoning or medicinal overdose
  • Manage bleeding, shock, musculoskeletal injuries, burns, injuries to head & spine
  • Collate and communicate health information
  • Size up the scene at the site
  • Assess patients at the site
  • Manage cardiovascular emergency, cerebrovascular emergency
  • Manage obstetrics/gynaecology emergencies
  • Manage infants, neonates and children
  • Handle patients with a respiratory emergency, severe abdominal pain and diabetes
AIMS/OBJECTIVES
  • To train students as technicians to handle patients for giving fast medical facilities due to emergencies such as accidents, disasters, or fire.
  • To train students to be well equipped to provide care to the injured until their treatment.
Medium of Instruction: English shall be the medium of instruction for all the study subjects and examinations of B.Sc. in Emergency Medical Technology program. Program Duration – 3 Years
  • Includes a one-month biology bridge course to equip students with fundamentals of human biology (class XI-XII level) to begin with.
  • 12 months of internship embedded in the program

Curriculum Advisory Group

In line with the mission and vision of DSEU to create industry relevant courses the Curriculum Advisory Group (CAG) is a mix of passionate educators and subject matter experts from academics and industry. There is a unique CAG for each of the bachelors and masters level courses. The CAG has analyzed the conceptual needs of the course as well as the employability needs and entrepreneurial opportunities offered to the students by the course. Based on their analysis the CAG has developed the program structure, selected the courses to be included, designed the syllabus, suggested the pedagogical approach, outlined the contours of the assessment, suggested modes of and the nature of industry interactions, and aspects of internships and apprenticeships offered in the course.
